CORE I/O is a versatile, high-performance software-defined video I/O server for HD and UHD, designed to seamlessly bridge on-premise and cloud-based workflows. Available in flexible 4-flow or 8-flow hardware configurations, it integrates seamlessly with AJA’s Corvid 44/88 video devices for on-site deployments and can also be deployed as an AWS cloud instance. It redefines media operations—combining capture, playout, transcoding, speech to text, and HTML graphics overlay in a modular, node-based architecture.

End-to-End Media Workflows — Capture, Playout, Signal Transcoding, Graphics, Live CC & Translation.

Node-based. Cloud-enabled. Scalable.

With CORE I/O, ToolsOnAir takes its proven Tier 1 foundation to the next level, introducing a fully dockerized, Linux-native, node-based video platform designed for multichannel ingest, playout, signal conversion, HTML5 graphics, AI-driven captioning, and more — all built around a powerful, browser-based visual workflow editor.

Powered by our advanced TME Media Engine and complemented by a modern web-based user interface featuring Dashboard, Widgets, and Flow Editor, CORE I/O gives operators unmatched flexibility. Flows can be created, adjusted, or modified at any time—perfectly adapting to the ever-changing needs of live events and studio productions.

This makes CORE I/O the true all-round solution in today’s broadcast and Pro-AV workflows.

Below you find the three available Flow modes:

Recording Flow, Playout Flow and Signal-Transcoding Flow

With CORE I/O, operators work inside a powerful Dashboard View that is entirely widget-based. This means every operator can create their own dashboards, add widgets, and adapt the interface exactly to their workflow requirements.

From monitoring to control, everything is available at a glance. Current widgets include:

  • Recording Viewer Widget – for live channel monitoring
  • Recording Timeline Widget – for precise flow control
  • Playlist Widget – to manage playout with ease
  • Input and Output Viewer – full signal transparency
  • File Browser Widget – direct access to media assets

And this is only the beginning—new widgets are continuously being developed to make CORE I/O even more versatile for live events, studios, and enterprise broadcast environments.

Seamless Automation & Third-Party Integration

CORE I/O is designed from the ground up to fit into any modern or legacy broadcast environment. Thanks to its robust RESTful API, every Flow exposes its own flexible interface, making it easy to connect CORE I/O with leading broadcast automation platforms such as Aveco, Vizrt, Crispin and many more.

Whether the task is news rundown integration, triggering live ingest events, or coordinating complex playout schedules, CORE I/O adapts instantly to the workflow. The underlying TME Media Engine ensures that performance and flexibility remain unmatched, even under demanding production conditions.

For environments that still rely on traditional systems, CORE I/O also supports VDCP over TCP/IP, ensuring compatibility with legacy control setups. This makes it the perfect choice for fast proof-of-concept deployments, hybrid rollouts, or phased upgrades in enterprise broadcast infrastructures.

And because integration is not just about APIs, the Flow-based Node Editor provides a visual, operator-friendly way to design, test, and fine-tune workflows. Combined with the powerful flexibility of the TME engine, this makes CORE I/O one of the strongest integration video servers on the market—ready to prove its value in record time.
