The Just In Mac Lite 2025 application is a streamlined version of the versatile just:in mac pro 2025 client-server capture solution for macOS. It shares the same flexible and reliable capture engine of just:in mac pro 2025 and covers the indispensable recording functions of broadcast and production environments that might not require the full feature set of our Pro capture edition or are in demand for a budget-friendly recording application.
With Just In Mac Lite 2025, you can capture up to 8 channels of SDI, HDMI, and/or NDI® High Bandwidth/HX3 sources in SD, HD, or UHD on a single Mac. Recording is supported in both Crash (Gang and Split) and Schedule modes, depending on the Apple silicon Mac model and the available storage capacity.

With Just In Mac Lite 2025, you can capture up to 8 channels of SDI, HDMI, and/or NDI® High Bandwidth/HX3 sources in SD, HD, or UHD on a single Mac. Recording is supported in both Crash (Gang and Split) and Schedule modes, depending on the Apple silicon Mac model and the available storage capacity.
Growing Files Support
In production scenarios where immediate access to the recordings is essential, support for Growing Files is essential. This allows the editors to access and edit files while the recording is in progress, and at the same reduce additional post-production time.
Growing Files recorded with the Just In Mac Lite application are compatible with Apple’s Final Cut Pro, Adobe's Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve 19/20.
However, the handling of Growing Files depends on the ability of the respective NLEs to support them extensively.
Seamlessly Schedule Your Recordings
A key part of the daily production routine is the ability to schedule recordings to improve overall efficiency.
The Just In Mac Lite application uses the same method as the premium just:in mac pro 2025 solution to accomplish this, by using the Apple Calendar application available as part of every qualified macOS system. Just like creating a calendar appointment, the scheduled programming of recordings is achieved in the simplest possible way, by creating a calendar event that will automatically start and stop a recording scheduled for the related channel.
Flexible Apple silicon Media Engine hardware acceleration support
Hardware Accelerated encoding support for the Apple ProRes, H.264 and HEVC (H.265) formats has been significantly enhanced with the introduction of the Apple silicon-based Media Engine. All current ToolsOnAir capture solutions offer the unique ability to select between CPU or hardware-accelerated encoding, particularly advantageous on recent Apple silicon models. This flexibility helps address potential encoding limitations when utilizing a combination of Apple ProRes or H.264/HEVC Capture Presets across available recording channels. It's important to note that Apple hardware acceleration for ProRes encoding is restricted to progressive formats. Interlaced or alpha channel formats will be handled by the CPU.
Extensive support for timecode input sources
The Just In Mac Lite application supports various Timecode sources to accommodate your needs.
Computer Time: the standard Timecode option available on every Mac, based on Time of Day information.
LTC over Audio: used with a USB Audio interface to sense and decode an audio-based LTC signal.
Capture card LTC: used when an AJA card with an LTC In port is available to receive and decode an applied LTC signal.
SDI Embedded: the preferred Timecode option, as all information is provided through the SDI cable. Requires an SDI Timecode Embedder.
NDI® Formats
The NDI® protocol enables systems to identify and communicate over IP and to encode, transmit, and receive many streams of high-quality, low latency, frame-accurate video and audio, and exchange metadata in realtime. NDI operates bi-directionally and its encoding algorithm is resolution and frame-rate-independent, supporting 4K resolutions and beyond, along with custom metadata. NDI is a registered trademark of Vizrt NDI AB.
All ToolsOnAir capture and playout solutions fully support the NDI High Bandwidth/HX3 formats to ensure a straightforward NDI-based workflow.
REST API and Close Caption Recording Support
The introduction of REST API calls allows you to seamlessly incorporate the Just In Mac Lite application into your tailored workflows. This empowers you to initiate recordings remotely and ensure integration flexibility with third-party systems. The Just In Mac Lite application supports CEA-608 (SD only) and CEA-708 (HD only) captions. The Closed Captioning Data is written into the closed captioning track of the QuickTime or MXF OP1a file. Please note that Closed Captions recording is only supported when using just:play pro 2025 or just:live pro 2025 as the source.

We continuously test and assess various storage setups to ensure compatibility with our capture and playout solutions. These system evaluations encompass internal disks and arrays, as well as third-party Thunderbolt storage devices, NAS, and SAN systems.
As part of our quality assurance process, we regularly test a range of Apple hardware and codecs. The results are provided to assist customers and partners in selecting the most suitable hardware for the Just In Mac Lite application when planning future purchases.

HOW TO BUY
To run a watermark-free version of the Just In Mac Lite application, please click on the “Purchase” button. The Just In Mac Lite application sells for 890 EUR/USD and includes an 8-channel recording license. This is a Software license only and does not include any Mac or video device hardware (to be purchased separately).
If you are ordering as a company, please ensure that you provide your VAT ID, Tax Exemption ID, GST ID, or ABN where appropriate so that the correct purchase price is displayed.
Upon successful payment, you will receive a permanent Activation Code at the time of purchase.
To update a Just In Mac Lite license to a just:in mac pro 2025 license, please contact the ToolsOnAir sales department at sales@toolsonair.com or one of the authorized ToolsOnAir resellers in your region.
The Just In Mac Lite application comes fully featured in Demo Mode but does not activate automatically, resulting in a ToolsOnAir watermark to be applied on all recordings. Upon purchasing a license, you will receive an activation code to remove the watermark.
Once you've purchased a Just In Mac Lite license online, you'll receive an immediate activation code after payment has been validated. If you already have the Demo Version, go to the "Activation" tab and enter your activation code. Otherwise, click on the "Download" button below to install the Just In Mac Lite application, and follow the activation instructions.
Copy and paste your ToolsOnAir activation code into the "Activation code" field and press "Enter" or "Activate." A successful activation changes the status from "Yellow" to "Green," with a popup confirming the successful activation.
The Just In Mac Lite application utilizes an online license framework which requires an internet connection for activation, deactivation, license transfer, and license status verification.
After the successful activation, the application verifies the license on every restart to ensure an easy yet secure operation.
