The solution consists of two applications: Just In Engine and Just Control.
For smaller, simple setups, both applications can be installed on a single macOS machine. However, thanks to its flexible architecture, they can also be distributed across multiple machines. This allows a single Just Control instance to manage multiple recording servers running Just In Engine.
One of the greatest benefits: Just Control requires no license and can be installed on multiple machines, enabling operators to monitor and control all recording channels simultaneously—perfect for multi-control environments.
Just In Mac Engine
The Just In Mac Engine application has access to the specific Video Hardware Devices (AJA / Blackmagic Design) and/or NDI®, SRT, UDP, ST-2110 format streams and is responsible for the encoding processes and for writing the video and metadata files to the chosen destination(s).
Once started, it runs and works in the background, as all settings can be applied within the Just Control application.
The Just In Mac Engine application can be run on the same machine as the Just Control application or on a dedicated macOS machine.
The Just In Mac Engine can also run on multipe machines in case the channel amount is high or in case of balancing the load and/or backup reasons.
Just Control
The Just Control application is the versatile single/multichannel control application for both our capture and playout solutions, with built-in video and audio previews and a feature-aware inspector to enable the operator to control all available capture and playout channels from a single user interface. The live:cut user interface is also part of the Just Control application and comes free of charge with every just:in mac pro license.

Version 2025.2 introduces the ability to record growing files in a MOV container to be edited live while capturing in your DaVinci Resolve 19/20 timeline. This enables DaVinci Resolve users to match the Apple ProRes hardware acceleration capabilities of the Apple silicon Mac models, while pertaining operational recording safety.
Classic QuickTime Container for Adobe Premiere Pro 25.x
Version 2025.2 re-introduces the ability to record growing files in a MOV container to be edited live while capturing in your Adobe Premiere Pro 25.x timeline. Growing Files recorded with just:in mac lite are compatible with Apple’s Final Cut Pro or Adobe's Premiere Pro (MXF container only).
However, the use of Growing Files depends on the ability of the respective NLEs to support them extensively.

Hardware Accelerated encoding support for the H.264 and HEVC (H.265) formats has been significantly enhanced with the introduction of the Apple silicon-based Media Engine. All current just:in mac capture solutions offer the unique ability to select between CPU or hardware-accelerated encoding, particularly advantageous on recent Apple silicon models. This flexibility helps address potential encoding limitations when utilizing a combination of Apple ProRes or H.264/HEVC Capture Presets across available recording channels. It's important to note that Apple hardware acceleration for ProRes encoding is restricted to progressive formats. Interlaced or alpha channel formats will be handled by the CPU.
Extensive support for timecode input sources
just:in mac lite supports various timecode sources to accommodate your needs.
Computer Time: the standard Timecode option available on every Mac, based on Time of Day information.
LTC over Audio: used with a USB Audio interface to sense and decode an audio-based LTC signal.
Capture card LTC: used when an AJA card with an LTC In port is available to receive and decode an applied LTC signal.
SDI Embedded: the preferred Timecode option, as all information is provided through the SDI cable. Requires an SDI Timecode Embedder.

just:in mac pro 2025 is always fully featured but is not activated by default, and therefore a ToolOnAir generated watermark will be added to all Recordings. As soon as you purchase a just:in mac pro 2025 licence, you will receive an activation code to remove the watermark.
Please note that an activation is not required to test the just:in mac 2025 solution (Just In Engine and Just Control).
Should you need to transfer your license to another machine, then click on the “Deactivate” button. This will release the license for the hardware and allow the license transfer to another machine.
